Selected Holes

Seventeenth

The 371-yard, short par-4 17th is described as a ‘card-wrecker’. To start with, the player is faced with a raised tee over a ravine, hemmed in by thick vegetation. Accuracy is essential because although the second shot isn’t long, the green slopes away, demanding a high shot with backspin. Putting therefore also requires a lot of care.

Eighteenth

A straight tee shot is needed from a raised tee up to the top of the hill. There is a sharp dogleg right. If you decide to go for it in two, you will have to go over a large tree and a bunker at the front of the green. Alternatively, you can lay up to the left side of the fairway to leave an easy pitch to the green. This is the safest way to play for a par. Miss the green right and there are two very deep pot bunkers plus the Mere. The green, which slopes steeply from back to front, is difficult to read.
